Lady Gaudí: Barcelona from My Perspective

When I painted Lady Gaudí, I wanted to capture that intimate moment when a person stops to contemplate their city. The female figure, with her back turned and a scarf fluttering in the breeze, represents that tranquil and personal connection with Barcelona. From high above, looking out toward the sea, I like to imagine that she—like many of us—is inspired by the city's unmistakable skyline and the magic of its architecture.

Watercolor gave me the freedom to create a delicate, almost dreamlike atmosphere. With soft layers of color and light brushstrokes, I tried to convey the calm of that moment and the contrast between the bustle of the city and the serenity of someone contemplating it from a distance. The colors of Park Güell, with their undulating shapes and vibrant tones, balance the composition and pay homage to the genius of Antoni Gaudí, who is always present in my creative imagination.

Lady Gaudí is a work born from a love for my city and a desire to share that contemplative perspective that life sometimes grants us. It's a painted memory, a visual pause, an invitation to stop and look at Barcelona as if for the first time.
