A Walk Through Barcelona: Between History and Movement

When I painted this watercolor, I wanted to capture the vibrant essence of Barcelona, that constant rhythm where history and the present merge into a single landscape. In the background, the majestic Sagrada Família, with its unmistakable silhouette, dominates the scene, reminding us of Gaudí’s genius. In the foreground, anonymous figures walk, each immersed in their own world, yet sharing the space and the moment.

I like my paintings to evoke feelings beyond the visual, so I strive to convey the city’s atmosphere through colors and composition. Watercolor allows me to build scenes with layers of soft tones, creating an ethereal effect that envelops the viewer. In this piece, the fluid brushstrokes and blended hues suggest movement and depth, recreating the vibrant energy of Barcelona without needing rigid or defined outlines.

Each brushstroke has a purpose. The Sagrada Família is not just a backdrop; it is the soul of the city, a witness to its evolution. The people in the painting represent those who move through its streets, weaving stories without realizing it. This work is my way of paying tribute to a Barcelona full of movement, light, and mystery.
